Transit visa permits to travel through the Russian territory to the final destination. Single-entry transit visa is issued for up to 3 days, if you travel by air, or for up to 10 days, if using other means of transportation. Double-entry visa is issued if both arrivals to Russia are within 30 days period
Foreign citizens have the right to pass through the territory of Russian Federation without a transit visa in the following cases:
- non-stop air flight over the territory of the Russian Federation;
- international air flight transfer in the Russian airport provided they have due documents to enter the country of destination and the air flight ticket with an indicated date of flight from the Russian transfer airport within 24 hours upon arrival (but for emergency landing).
Passengers travelling to and from Belarus/Kazakhstan via Russian Federation need to obtain the transit Russian visa irrespectively of their length of stay in the airport.
It must be filled out online and printed out double-sided. One per person. No blank spaces must be left. If a question does not apply, please type "N/A". If the answer is none, write "None". Kindly ensure that the dates of your entry and exit, as entered in the application form, match with or fall within the period specified in the supporting documents. The form should bear the original signature of applicant. Application form of children under 18 must be signed by one of the parents. Question no.25: 30 entries is sufficient. Incomplete forms, forms without signature, forms with corrections, will be returned to the applicants unprocessed.
- One photograph
size: 3.5 by 4.5 cm, less than 6 months old, in colour, with a light background. The photo must be glued (not stapled or attached using adhesive tape) on the form strictly at reserved place. Please find photo requirements here.
or other travel document recognized as such in the Russian Federation with at least 2 blank pages for visas. The passport should be submitted in original only and should be valid for at least 6 months after planned departure date from Russia.

if you want to receive your passport by post. We recommend that you choose a mail service that enables you to track the arrival of your package, such as Express Post. If you did not enclose an envelope the passport will be left for collection at our office. In this case the Consulate General will not bear responsibility for the delay in your passport's dispatch.
